Spectators watch as a fireman hoses down flames from a forest fire in Glendale's Verdugo Woodlands and Rossmoyne sections. 2500 acres burned but the firemen were able to keep the blaze from damaging any of the nearby homes. Firemen battled the flames for ten hours and dealt with high winds, which made the situation more dangerous

Description:
Peggy McDonald attends the funeral of actress Jean Harlow, who died of uremic poisoning at the age of 26. The funeral was held in the "Wee Kirk O' the Heather" chapel in the Forest Lawn Memorial cemetary in Glendale, California.Ms. McDonald befriended Harlow when they met on set, where McDonald worked as a hairdresser. She, along with three other women close to Harlow, dressed and styled the deceased actress for her funeral and subsequent burial.

Description:
A derailed train is burrowed shallowly in the ground in the aftermath of a railroad accident. Bystanders--men, women, and children--surround the locomotive, especially to the left of the image. The head of the train has numbers, "2451" and "76." The engineer's train car is painted with "2451." Power line towers, houses, and white picket fences are seen in the background. In the far distance, a "West Glendale" sign is present. The Southern Pacific Railroad locomotive had collided with a seven-ton sand truck on the train tracks in Glendale. A dozen people were injured, with no fatalities.

Crowds of men, women and children gather outside of the Glendale Southern Pacific Railroad Depot, waiting to glimpse the train that carried William Edward Hickman to Los Angeles from Pendleton, Oregon, where he was held while awaiting extradition. Hickman confessed to the kidnap for ransom and murder of Marion Parker, age 12. He was executed at San Quentin, October 19, 1928.

Judge Frank H. Lowe turns seventy-six, Glendale, 1933

Description:
To celebrate Judge Lowe's 76th birthday he was given a mock trial that found him guilty in open court of "the unusual offense of seventy-six years of useful and worth while living, as charged by his fellow citizens." The trial was attended by a large number of attorneys, city officials and business men. His sentence was "incarceration in the grateful hearts of his fellow-citizens."

Her father, Fernando, also claims that June is doing very well since her rescue from the shallow pit she had been imprisoned in in the desert, having gained eight pounds. All questions June was asked concerning the kidnapping were answered with "I don't know."
