Photograph of H. H. West standing beside Paul Revere's grave marker in the Granary Burying Grounds. H. H. West stands in the cemetery grounds, just right-of-center. He faces slightly left and looks downward. To the left of him the monument for Paul Revere stands. It is viewed at an angle from the side. Its inscription reads, "PAUL REVERE BORN IN BOSTON. JANUARY, 1934: DIED MAY, 1818." Wire stretches across the image, in front of H. H. and the grave marker. The surrounding cemetery grounds extend through the mid-ground. A tree stands behind H. H. and a building (partial view) is visible in the background at right.

Behind H. H., waves crash on the shore at left and a pier extends across the horizon.

A rope extends from the upper left corner towards the canopy standing in the near distance, right-of-center. Midway across the rope, a stick stands upright and supports the rope at center. Left-of-center, socks and a towel hang from the makeshift clothesline. They are secured to the line by "clothespins" -- that is, small split sticks. In the distance, supplies and gear are spread around the campsite surrounding the canopy. At left, a woman stands with her back to the camera. Posts and pans sit on the ground to her right.
