Description:
View of the materials on a table used to create a photographic advertisement for Ghirardelli chocolates: chocolate bon-bons on a wooden board and materials used to create the backdrop. The backdrop with the word "uniform" and the line of profile women making chocolates is created using 2 props: a line of women in profile cut out of a piece of paper and the work "Uniform" created with letters applied to a plate of glass. Both items are arranged so that they create a gray shadow of a piece of paper when illuminated. The wooden handle of a tool (hammer?) and 2 small boxes of photographic supplies are in the foreground. The finished result is visible in image ark no. 21198/zz002j907c .

The Tehachapi Mountains is a mountain range in California that extends for approximately 40 miles in southern Kern County and northeastern Los Angeles County. The California poppy (Eschscholzia californica) is a perennial and annual plant native to the United States. The plant is the official state flower of California.

Description:
The Ludington estate, also known as Val Verde, Dias Felices, the Henry Dater house, and the Dr. Warren Austin home, was designed by the architect Bertram Grovenor Goodhue, constructed in 1918 and then purchased by Charles H. Ludington in 1924. His son, Wright Saltus Ludington (who inherited the estate in 1927 or 1930), engaged the landscape architect Lockwood de Forest to design the gardens in 1925. Retaining the geometry of Goodhue's design and much of the wilderness, Lockwood transformed the gardens over a period of twenty-three years.

In this picture there is some low brush and several palm trees.

Specimen photograph of sand verbena (abronia). The plant is native to western North America and grows in dry sandy soil. There are many species of abronia and the most common abronia in the Indian Wells area and Coachella Valley Preserve are the Desert Sand Verbena and the Purple Sand Verbena.
