Text reads: REMARKS BY HON. WILLIAM GIBBS McADOO AT THE GOLDEN RULE FOUNDATION PAGEANT, Saturday, November 8, 1930. This is a visible demonstration of the universality of the appeal made by the greatest philanthropic organization in the world - THE GOLDEN RULE FOUNDATION. I say the GREATEST because it is the only organization which devotes itself to the conservation and welfare of child life in every part of the world, without regard to race, class, religion or nationality. The progress of civilization depends upon the health and vitality of the races that compose it, and no race can be strong or vital unless infant life is not only preserved, but surrounded by the care and conditions which produce vigorous and healthy types, mentally and physically. In some countries half of the children who are born die in infancy. This is an appalling fact and it is that condition which the GOLDEN RULE FOUNDATION is trying to relieve. But its efforts will be impotent unless the children of the world, and those who stand back of them, help to raise the necessary money to carry on the work. The GOLDEN RULE FOUNDATION undertakes to furnish medical assistance, food and clothing, and other things that are necessary to help the children of other countries who are less fortunate than those of the United States. It is a noble mission and should have universal support. Let us hope that the people of this great and powerful and wealthy nation will, during the coming campaign, which begins on Golden Rule Sunday, December 7th, and continues for an entire week, contribute generously to this great cause and enable the GOLDEN RULE FOUNDATION to provide for the destitute and under-privileged children in all nations of the world.
