The corner of a dockside shed stands along the right edge in the foreground. A small dock covered in gear runs behind and parallel to it; the dock extends from the bottom edge at center and back towards the right. Several moored rowboats surround the perimeter of the dock at left and back at right. In the near distance, Hebard West stands at center with his back to camera. In his right hand he holds a few fishing rods. With his left hand, he hands a tackle box down to Forrest Whitaker. Forrest Whitaker stands, left-of-center, in a rowboat. He is in profile, facing right, and looks down as he grabs the tackle box from Hebard. Behind and to the right of Hebard, Ann West stands in partial view at the edge of the dock. An out-of-focus and blurry photograph, from left to right, of Hebard West, Forrest Whitaker and Ann West standing on a dock at Big Bear Lake. In the foreground, the dock enters frame at left and extends towards the right. Along the right side of the dock, boats are moored. "Lake Shore" is written across the bow of one boat. In the near distance at center, Hebard West stands. His back is to camera as he faces towards Forrest and Ann, who stand further back on the dock at right. Forrest Whitaker faces slightly left, towards Hebard. Ann West stands directly behind Forrest and gives him a bear hug. To the left of Forrest, a pile of crates sits next to a shack that stands on the dock. The shack stands in partial view; it enters frame at left and stretches towards center. It is viewed from the front. To the left of Hebard, the dock's proprietor pours gasoline in front of the open front door of the shack. Over the door, it reads, "LAKESHORE." Big Bear Lake stretches into the distance at right. Mountains are visible rising from the far shore.

About halfway down the dock, left-of-center, Ann West and Forrest Whitaker stand. Forrest stands nearest to camera as he fiddles with a piece of equipment to the left of him. Ann stands behind the equipment and watches. Behind them, a small hut of corrugated metal construction stands, left-of-center. It is viewed from the front. A large door stands at left and a smaller door at right. Over the smaller door, it reads, "LAKESHORE." To the right of the hut, Hebard West walks past the hut and away from camera. Big Bear Lake stretches across the background. Mountains rise from the opposite shore in the far distance.
