Consuelo Flowerton, actress and singer, conversing with a man, copyprint, early 1920s

Description:
Consuelo Flowerton was a Ziegfeld Follies showgirl, stage and screen actress, and nightclub performer. She made her film debut in the silent film Camille (Metro Pictures Corporation, 1921) before returning to Broadway stage shows. She appeared in two more films, one long and one short-form, in 1924 and 1928 (neither produced or distributed by Columbia Pictures). Flowerton continued to perform in stage shows throughout the 1930s and early 1940s. These dates also coincide with her appearances as a nightclub performer (she sang and played violin). While Flowerton may not have appeared in a Columbia Pictures film, her daughter, Nina Foch, did. Foch appeared in eighteen Columbia films between 1943 and 1949.

Painting of Ruth St. Denis, modern dance pioneer, in Southeast Asian attire, (painting, 1912)

Description:
Ruth St. Denis was a modern dancer who incorporated eastern dance into her work. Walter Barron Currier was a Massachusetts-born painter, craftsman, illustrator, print maker and etcher. He moved to the Los Angeles area in 1913. Currier was the head of Lincoln High School's art department, and established the Currier Creative Art School in Santa Monica in 1926.
