Description:
Ruth St. Denis was a modern dancer who incorporated eastern dance into her work. Walter Barron Currier was a Massachusetts-born painter, craftsman, illustrator, print maker and etcher. He moved to the Los Angeles area in 1913. Currier was the head of Lincoln High School's art department, and established the Currier Creative Art School in Santa Monica in 1926.

Mission style building on Magnolia Avenue, Fontana, 1928-1931

Description:
Fontana was founded in 1913 by A.B. (Azarial Blanchard) Miller, d. 1878-1941. Miller first purchased the 17,000 acres of land in 1906, a year after he began working it. Miller envisioned a booming agricultural town complete with citrus orchards, cattle and poultry farms situated along Route 66. With the formation of the Fontana Land Company in 1914 and Fontana Farms Company in 1918, Miller’s vision began to come to fruition. The Los Angeles Times printed numerous articles regarding A.B. Miller, Fontana Farms and Fontana Land companies from 1914 to 1937; articles specific to poultry farming and egg production date from 1925 to 1931.

Description:
The home was owned by Marshall G. Stone, a Valle Vista pioneer considered to be the "Father of Valle Vista," having been superintendent over the development of 3,000 acres of a San Jacinto land grant. Stone was also one of the organizers of the Fairview Land & Water Company. The house was first a hotel, and was later occupied by Stone.

Description:
Copy photograph of villagers from an unidentified Central African nation, with Anglo missionaries. Men, women and children are represented in the photo; men and boys are seated on the ground with the missionaries, while the women and girls stand. The women wear wrappers (textiles wrapped around their bodies), and head ties. The men wear caftans and head coverings. They sit across from an Anglo wearing a pith helmet, shirt, pants, and boots. Behind the men sits a second Anglo, also wearing a pith helmet, shirt, tie and pants (probably rolled up) with tall socks. He sits atop a loose pile of thatch. Further behind him, a woman peaks out from part of a woven thatch structure. The group is surrounded by trees and foliage.
