Description:
A worm's-eye view photograph, from left to right, of: Josie Shaw, Will Shaw, Abraham Whitaker, Mertie West, Everett Shaw, Wright Prickett, Jr. and Wes Witherby posing in the open window area of a porch for an informal group portrait at Bailey's cottage in Manhattan Beach. The shingle-style cottage is viewed from the ground and the camera looks up towards the group. They stand in a row to the right of column with "1008" on it. A portion of the roof is visible in the upper left corner and a shutter is visible at right.

The group is viewed close-up and stands together, off-center to the right. They stand in staggered rows on the steps and all look to the camera. H. H. West, Jr. stands on the lowest level at right. Behind and to the left of him, Anna West stands a step higher. Mertie West stands on the same step to the left of Anna. Behind Mertie and Anna, Richard Siemsen stands on the highest step. Frances Wells stands beside him to the left. The covered porch stretches back behind the group, with the front door standing behind Frances. A few punch holes line the bottom edge at right.

Photograph of 2 uniformed servicemen standing in front of their quarters while stationed at Dutch Harbor during World War II. A walkway of wooden slats enters frame from the lower left corner and stretches through the image on an upward angle towards the right. It then extends back to the left towards the front door of the Quonset hut-style barracks. Two servicemen stand on the walkway in front of and running parallel to the barracks. They stand side-by-side at center and look to the camera while dressed in uniform. The front of the barracks stands behind and to the left of them. It is viewed at an angle from the front and faces right. Snow-covered mountains rise in the distance at right.

Description:
According to the negative sleeve for this set, these photographs are of the San Diego Fair, about 1912. The buildings in some of the photographs were not built until 1915. It is more likely that these images are were taken in 1915. In 1915 and through 1916, San Diego hosted the Panama-California Exposition, for which many of the buildings in the photographs were built. The photographs most likely document this event.

Photograph of 4 fellow servicemen of H. H. West, Jr. standing in front of their quarters while stationed at Dutch Harbor during World War II. A walkway of wooden slats enters frame from the bottom edge at center and stretches through the image on an upward angle towards the right. It then extends back to the left towards the front door of the Quonset hut-style barracks. Four servicemen stand on the steps and walkway leading up to barrack's door. A man in uniform stands on the walkway at center and looks to the camera. Behind and to the left of him, another man wearing a heavy coat faces the camera, but looks down towards his hand which holds a cigarette. On the topmost step in front of the door and to the left him, 2 more men stand. The leftmost man shields his eyes as he looks to the left. Another man peeks from behind and to the right of him while resting his foot on wooden post. The front of the barracks stands behind and to the left of the group. It is viewed at an angle from the front; it faces right. Snow-covered mountains rise in the distance at center and right.

A man in uniform stands leftmost and links arms with the man standing at center, who wears a heavy coat. Another man stands to the right of the man at center. He faces left and holds the the hand of the man at center. All look to the camera. The front of the barracks stands behind and to the left of the group. It is viewed at an angle from the front and the side; it faces right. Corrugated sheet metal covers the side and the roof of the structure. Snow-covered mountains rise in the distance at center and right.
