Know Your City No.99 Entrance of the Barlow Medical Library Los Angeles, Calif., 1956
- Description:
- ANSWER: The Barlow Medical Library was built and stocked by the late Dr. Jarvis Barlow and might well be considered the origin of the Los Angeles County Medical Association. Situated at 742 N Broadway, it is across the street from a day health clinic operated as sort of an extension by the University of California. Both are now abandoned, the library finally closing during World War II, the clinic being shuttered in 1952. Out of the Barlow Medical Foundation grew the present Los Angeles County Medical Association.
