Description:: SPANISH: Esta recopilación en sonido de cantos cantados principalmente por Asunta Arias Tarque, María Ayca Colque y Lucía Quispe Choque es el resultado de sus entrevistadas con Juan de Dios Yapita y Denise Y. Arnold. Primero Doña Asunta entona dos canciones a los animales (warart'aña): 1. La Canción a la Llama Hembra y sus crías, que se canta en el rio de marcar los animales (k’illpha), En tu senda eterna chullumpi (Wayaway chullumpi). Ella está acompañada por su hija Flora Choque Arias. 2. Luego doña Asunta hace algunas libaciones (ch’alla) para las nuevas crías (chitataki, machaqa qallutaki), los corrales y así, bebe un sorbo de trago y empieza la Canción a la Oveja Madre, Mamala bee bee (Mamalay paw paw), nuevamente acompañada por su hija. 3. La suegra de doña Asunta, María Ayca Colque, luego toma un vaso y entona la Canción para la Llama Hembra (Mamalita, Mamalay), en una versión extendida, animada por su esposo don Alberto Choque Mamanillo en el fondo. 4. Después, Lucía Quispe Choque entona la Canción de la Boda cantada por la tía paterna (ipala) (Parlantatay parlantata). 6. Luego doña Asunta canta su propia versión extendida del Canto de la Boda para el recién casado par de palomas (Paris paluma). Antes de empezar brinda para el par de palomas (paris palumataki) diciendo “nos tomaremos, nos bailaremos (thuqhurañani), tocaremos música y cantamos wayñus (wayñuñani)”. Ella está acompañada por su hija Flor y por su cuñada Teodora Choque Ayca, quien sigue el pulso de la música. ENGLISH: This sound compilation of songs sung principally by Asunta Arias Tarque, María Ayca Colque and Lucía Quispe Choque is the result of interviews they held with Juan de Dios Yapita and Denise Y. Arnold. First Doña Asunta sings two songs to the animals (warart'aña): 1. The Song to the Female Llama and her offspring sung at the animal marking ceremony (k’illpha): On your eternal path chullumpi (Wayaway chullumpi). She is then accompanied a little by her daughter Flora Choque Arias. 2. Then doña Asunta makes some libations (ch’alla) for the new offspring (chitataki, machaq qallutaki), the corrals and so on, and takes a sip of drink before singing the Song to the Mother Sheep, Mamala bee bee (Mamalay, paw paw), again accompanied by her daughter. 3. Doña Asunta’s mother-in-law, María Ayca Colque, then takes a sip of drink and sings the Song for the Female Llama (Mamalita Mamalay) in an extended version, with her husband don Alberto Choque Mamanillo inspiring her in the background. 4. Then Lucía Quispe Choque sings the Marriage Song sung by the paternal aunt (ipala) at the wedding feast (Parlantatay parlantata). 6. Following this, doña Asunta sings her own extended version of the Marriage Song for the newly married pair of doves (Paris paluma). Before starting to sing doña Asunta toasts to the couple as a pair of doves (Paris palumataki) saying “we will drink, we will dance (thuqhurañani), we will play music and sing wayñus (wayñuñani)”. She is accompanied by her daughter Flora and her sister-in-law Teodora Choque Ayca who claps time.
