Caption

Christmas Bells in California are apt to be silver church bells--except in the mountains where the traditional sleigh bells still ring. And Christmas roses are the ethereal paper-like blossoms of the cacti that grow in old gardens such as this one at the ancient Mission of San Miguel. "White flowers of love its walls shall climb, Soft bells of peace shall ring its chime, Its days shall all be holy time."--Whittier
