These photographs appear with Los Angeles Times article, May 12, 1928, Glimpses at Secretary Hoover’s Youth Gleaned From Family Album. Out of an old family album in the possession of his sister, Mrs. Mary Van Ness Leavitt … were culled these old photographs giving an intimate glimpse into the early life of Herbert Hoover, Secretary of Commerce, and the outstanding candidate for the Republican nomination for the Presidency. … The Times is indebted to Mrs. Leavitt for the old photographs, reproduced below with a number of the most recent pictures taken of the Secretary.
