Notes
- Description
-
Josie Shaw was Mertie Whitaker's sister. William Shaw was Josie's husband, and Lester and Romayne Shaw were their sons. Abraham and Mary Whitaker were Mertie and Josie's parents. Agnes Hawley later became Forrest Whitaker's wife. Mertie Whitaker became H. H. West's second wife in the 1920's.
The baby in the bonnet may be Josie Shaw's son, Romayne Shaw. Also, it is unclear whether the man at the far right in the back row is Forrest Whitaker or Harvey Hall.
Abraham, Mary, and Mertie Whitaker sit in the sand with William and Josie Shaw, as well as Lelia Gillan and Agnes Hawley. There is a cardboard box in the sand next to Lester. There are other people walking behind the group on the wooden boardwalk. There is a restaurant in the background with a covered patio and a sign above that reads, "restaurant."
