- View of the Monumento Nazionale Vittorio Emmanuele II (National Monument to Victor Emmanuel II) from Piazza Venezia in Rome. Victor Emmanuel was the first king of unified Italy. The monument was built between 1911 and 1935 and features a central statue of Victor Emmanuel on a horse, Corinthian colums, a wide stairway and two statues of the goddess Victoria riding on quadrigas, a chariot drawn by four horses. The monument is built out of white marble and houses the museum of Italian Reunification and the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier.
