The Griffith Park Airport was in the northeast portion of Griffith Park, Los Angeles, in the area later dominated by the 5 and 134 freeways, from about 1925 to about 1943.
Possibly related to the article “Air Depot Park Site Inspected, Councilmen Laud Griffith Field and Monday Set for Public Hearing.” Los Angeles Times, 20 Oct. 1928. The article states: “The City Council’s Finance Committee will hold a public hearing … on the proposal to use … land adjoining Griffith Park for a municipal air depot. … 175 acres are now in use as an airport and base for the air unit of the California National Guard. A hangar and other equipment including seven planes are now at the field …”
