The National Music League began in 1924 as a not-for-profit bureau concerned with booking amateur classical musicians for concert work. The league was based in New York City. Article citation: Hunt, Morton B. "They Give the Kids a Chance." The Saturday Evening Post, May 10, 1952.
This image is a copy of two pages from the article “They Give the Kids a Chance,” by Morton B. Hunt, regarding the National Music League, Inc. The pages describe how the league sets musicians up with concert tours, how their musicians are compensated, and the benefits of belonging with the league. To this, pianist Jim Wolfe describes his working experiences in Brazil. Also, the league’s number of concert bookings and gross income is compared to other talent agencies of the day – namely Columbia Artists Management and N.C.A.C. Anna “Mama” Molyneaux’s role and history in the organization is also discussed.
