Description: East Los Angeles State Relief Administration (S.R.A.) director, Samuel J. Ayeroff at hearings for charges of Communist activity against several members of the L.A. County S.R.A. Ayeroff was named as an active member of the Young Communist League by one of its former organizers, George Bertholon. The hearings lasted only one day and ended with a recommendation that action be taken against some of the witnesses (including Ayeroff) for perjury, but no one was immediately fired
