- Ghunghru type, Gillakalu (shell rattle ?), used by the Konda-Reddi (Hill Reddi) people, Khammam district. Made of cowrie shells, cypraeoidea, each pierced with one hole and threaded together with others in clusters of 6 or 7 shells. One set (L) is attached to a wooden handle to shake by the hand; the other is attached to a mirror and tied to a dancer’s ankle, similar to the ghunghru of kathak classical dance. A.P. photo.
