- Description
-
At right, Gerry Cooke, a Western Union messenger, stands, facing left, in Pershing Square. He holds a bag in one hand and drops seed onto the ground with the other. He looks down towards the few pigeons on the ground at left. Behind Gerry Cooke, a line of benches stretches across the image. A few people sit on the benches with their backs to camera and passersby look towards the messenger. Buildings surrounding the square rise in the distance.
