- Description
-
The current firehouse is at risk of falling down. The structure of the building is similar to a barn, to better suit the horse-drawn fire machines of the 1890s. Now it is so unstable the building sways in the breeze.
The building stands on the corner of the street beside a telephone pole. Uniformed men stare up at the structure, with cars parked along the curb on either side.
Photograph appears with the article, "Razing of City's Oldest Fire Station Demanded," Los Angeles Times, 03 Apr 1936: A1.
