Photograph of Mertie West standing on an observation deck at the top of the Empire State Building in New York City. Mertie West stands, just left-of-center, with her back to the camera. She appear to point towards the distance. Ahead of her, a concrete barrier wall lines the edge of the balcony. A couple to the left of Mertie stands with their backs to the camera as they lean over the edge of the wall and look down. To the right of Mertie, a viewing scope stands. Beyond the wall, only a hazy sky is visible.
