- Description
-
An out-of-focus photograph of the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier in Arlington National Cemetery, as viewed from the west. The image appears to tilt slightly downward to the right. The guard's mat stretches along the bottom edge. Beyond it, a post and chain barrier encircles the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier. The western side of the neoclassical, marble monument faces the camera. Pilasters stand on either side of an inscription (not legible in image). Visitors to the cemetery stand in the near distance along the right edge. Wide steps extend across the image and downward behind the tomb. Trees line the sides of the steps as they stretch into the distance. Four punched holes dot the bottom edge at right.
According to the negative sleeve, this set of photographs is captured in color. The scans of these images are in black and white.
