- Description
- Photograph of the Hudson's Bay Company department store in Vancouver, as viewed from the intersection of Howe Street and West Georgia Street. Howe Street stretches across the bottom edge on an upward angle from right to left. Two men at center step off the curb from the opposite side of the street and walk towards camera. Behind them, West Georgia Street stretches back through the image on an upward angle from left to right. On the right side of West Georgia Street, a building stands in partial view along the right edge. Storefronts line the far side of West Georgia Street. The readable signs outside the stores read, from left to right: "Anne Maloney [?]," "Madame Bennett [?]," "Norman G. Cull Limited," "GEORGIA PHARMACY," "[...] gordon [...]WELLERS," "NOVELTIES SILVERWARE," and "Henri's." Atop the leftmost building, 3 billboards stand. They advertise, from left to right, "Heinz Vinegar," "Coca-Cola," and cigarettes. The Hudson's Bay Company building stands in the distance at center, partially obscured by the buildings lining the street at left. It stands 6-stories tall. British flags hang from the side of the building facing West Georgia Street.
