An out-of-focus photograph of Mertie West standing on the railroad station's platform at Dunsmuir. Mertie stands in the foregroud, just right-of-center. She faces slightly right and looks to the camera. The platform stretches back behind her on an angle from left to right. A barrier wall lines the left side of the platform. Beyond the wall, a steep hillside slopes upward to the left. It is dotted by trees. Behind Mertie, at left, a woman an girl stand on the platform. A cart is visible further down the platform behind Mertie. In the distance at right, a tree-covered hillside stands. Five punched holes line the bottom edge.
