- Description
- Photograph of George M. West's old shop (now Gray's) standing along East Washington Avenue in Red Oak, Iowa. The brick-paved East Washington Avenue stretches through the foreground on an upward angle from the lower right corner to the left. On the far side of the street, Gray's Paint and Body Shop stands, off-center to the right. It is viewed at an angle from the front and faces left. The building has a false-front facade. A large sign over a line of windows and garage door reads, "Complete WHEEL ALIGNMENT GLASS INSTALLED WHILE YOU WAIT GRAY'S PAINT AND BODY SHOP BEE B LINE FRAME & AXLE STRAIGHTENING EQUIPMENT." To the right of Gray's, a smaller, adjacent building extends to the right and out-of-frame. It is obscured by a delivery truck for "ASKEY FEED & PRODUCE RED OAK, IA," parked in front. To the left of and adjacent to Gray's, "MARTIN & SONS PRODUCE and FEEDS," stands. It too has a false-front facade. In the background at left, vehicles park on the street and houses line E. Washington Ave.
