- H. H. West's brother, Wilson, reads a book in the library of the West's house. He leans his elbow on a table which is covered with papers and books. There is a sofa at the left with pillows on it, and a guitar leans on the sofa. Pictures hang on the walls. There is an open door next to the sofa.

- Text from negative sleeve: 1787. Los Angeles, California. 240 South Griffin Ave. 1899. 1. H. H. West, with cane, in the library. 2. Wilson D. West at end of library table. That guitar at left of couch I bought for $20.00 when I was working for the W. U. Tel. Co. in 1892. Charlie Lewis and I took lessons from Emma Summers. She later got rich in oil and was known as the Oil Queen. 2 films.
