Based on the age of Lester Shaw in this image, the date has been estimated as about 1896, rather than about 1898.
Lester Shaw was the nephew of Mertie Whitaker, who became H. H. West's second wife in the 1920's.
Lester Shaw crawls and grabs on to a plant. He looks at the camera and wears a white gown. The house is visible above him and there are other plants lining the cement walk.
