Mertie Whitaker became H. H. West's second wife in the 1920's.
Mertie Whitaker and Ora Prickett stand on Spring Street watching the parade for President William McKinley. She wears a flat, straw hat and gloves and holds a handkerchief in one hand and a coat under her arm. He wears a bowler hat and has a mustache. Crowds walk by on the sidewalk and street around them, all with their backs to the camera. There is a wooden crate on the sidewalk. American flags hang from the storefronts. S. Condradi Jeweler is behind them and Whedon & Spreng Co. is next to that.
