Photograph, from left to right, of Mertie West, P. F. C. Ernest T. Lewis and Mrs. Ray Johnson standing in front of a parapet at the Crown Point rest and viewing area on the Columbia River Highway. The trio stands right-of-center. Mertie stands leftmost at center. She faces slightly right and looks up towards Ernest Lewis. Ernest Lewis stands in the middle and gazes off towards the right. Mrs. Ray Johnson stands to the right of him and looks to the camera. Behind them, a stone parapet stretches from right to left, ending just left-of-center. A stone stairway down to another tier of the observation area creates a break in the wall to the left of Mertie. In front of them, a parking space occupies most of the foreground at left and center. A car is parked in the adjacent space at right; only its fender is visible in the lower right corner. Behind the group, a distant and hazy vista of the Columbia River (left) and the Washington side of the river (right) are visible.
