- Description
- Distant photograph, from left to right, of Mertie West and Rex V. Wilson standing on the side of the road near the Snake River in Thousand Springs, Idaho. They are stopped along the side of U.S. Route 30. The road stretches from the lower left corner and back into the image, before curving out-of-frame at left. In the distance, Mertie West and Rex V. Wilson stand on the shoulder to the right of the road and face towards camera. H. H. West's Buick is parked off the road to the left of Mertie; it is viewed from the back. In front and to the right of them, a road sign is posted. It reads, "IDAHO U.S. 30." Grasses and brush occupy the right side of the foreground. It follows the same arc of the road to the left as it stretches towards the horizon. Beyond the grasses, the Snake River flows in the distance. It enters frame at right and follows the arc of the road as it exits frame at left. Canyon walls line the opposite bank and water flows down the side of a wall in the far distance, right-of-center.
