- Photograph, from left to right, of Mertie West and Staff Sergeant John H. Frame standing on the roadside by H. H. West's car just east of Wells. The road stretches into the distance along the left side of the image. H. H. West's car is parked along the right side of the road, left-of-center, in the near distance. It is viewed from the back. Mertie West stands in front of the back end of the car, left-of-center. She faces right, but turns her head towards the camera. John H. Frame stands on the shoulder of the road at right. He faces slightly left and also turns his head towards the camera. Ground brush extends from the right side of the road and into the distance. Snow-capped mountains occupy the background.

- Text from negative sleeve: 1582. Yellowstone trip 1942. Saturday, June 20, 1942. Leaving Battle Mountain, Nev. we picked up a soldier en route east. Mertie West and Staff Sergeant John Frame, 629 Grant Street, Camden, N.J. en route to Ft Dix, N.J. Photo taken just east of Wells, Nev. Sgt Frame then takes picture of H.H.West and Mertie West. 2 films. [Note: In all instances of the year date, 1942, the last digit (2) is handwritten over a typed 3.]
