Photograph of Ade Bystle standing on the beach, while Lottie Bystle sits on the sand during a visit to Santa Monica. Ade Bystle stands in the near distance at center. He looks towards and points to the camera. His pants are rolled up to his knees. Lottie Bystle sits on the sand in front of and to the right of Ade. She sits with her back to the camera. Two unknown women stand behind and to the left of Ade. They are in profile, facing right, as they approach the water. The beach stretches on an upward angle across the lower portion of the image from right to left. Small waves approach the beach from the right and lap onto the rocky shore. The ocean extends out into the distance. In the far distance, a pier enters the image from the left and stretches horizontally across the photograph.
