Photograph, from left to right, of: Mary A. West, Kate A. Schmitz, Irene Schmitz, Albert Schmitz and Chester Schmitz standing behind barriers and looking onto a pool at the base of a waterfall (out-of-frame) somewhere above Silver Lake. They are viewed from above. Rocks in the foreground cascade down to the group in the near distance. The camera views them from above. They stand at center, on rocks and behind a wooden barrier. Planks of wood are strewn among the rocks they stand upon. Mary A. West stands leftmost and turns to look up towards the camera. The Schmitz family is gathered behind the barrier together and look towards the water. The children sit close to the barrier and Kate and Albert stand behind them. All have their backs to the camera. The water flows across the center of the image, from right to left. In the middle of the image water flows over a small weir. The opposite bank stands in the background. A wooden barrier stands on the opposite bank across from group.
