William "Babe" Bystle and Frances and Elizabeth West stand in the Sacramento River. Babe (a relative of H. H. West's first wife, Mary) wears a sailor's cap and has his hands in his pockets. H. H. West's daughters, Frances and Elizabeth, wear sailor tops.

Text from negative sleeve: 756. Redding, Calif. About 1914. The Ford Garage at Redding, owned and operated by Ade Bystle. Babe Bystle, son of Ade Bystle, and Elizabeth and Frances West go out to the Sacramento River. Taken on banks of Sacramento River north of Redding. 3 negatives. In going into Redding, we could see Mt Lassen in eruption plain way to the east. It was so plain that I thought I could take a picture of the smoke coming from the cone. Don't seem to be able to see Mt Lassen tho [sic]. 5 negatives.
