- Description
- Photograph, from left to right, of Otto Schmitz, Charles Stavnow and Elmer Cole eating and cooking in their campsite near Piru Creek. Situated nearest to camera, Elmer Cole sits on a rock at right. He holds a cup in one hand and with the other attends to a pan at center. He looks towards the pan. Otto Schmitz and Charles Stavnow both kneel in the background to the left of Elmer Cole. Otto Schmitz kneels at left. He faces right as he lifts a cup to his mouth. Charles Stavnow kneels behind Elmer's outstretched arm. He faces slightly towards the right and looks down at the food in his hands. The group's food supplies and cooking utensils sit on the ground surrounding Elmer Cole. Their tent and a shadow jut into the image along the left edge. A hillside covered in chaparral stands in the background.
