Notes
- Description
-
Mertie West and her family pose on a snowy incline in Yosemite National Park near the Tioga summit. H. H. West Jr. and Forrest Whitaker hold handfuls of snow. The three women sit on the ground. Romayne Shaw holds the little girl's hand. There are trees and terrain not covered with snow in the background.
Mertie West was H. H. West's wife. Forrest Whitaker was Mertie's brother and Agnes Whitaker was Forrest's wife. Romayne Shaw was Mertie and Forrest's nephew. Based on the date of the photograph, the little girl may be Shirleyana Shaw, rather than Eleanor Shaw. Both Shirleyana and Eleanor were Romayne Shaw's daughters.
