Description: "Army Defense Week" is incorrect on the negative sleeve. The committee was meeting for Army Day, not National Defense Week which took place earlier in February of that year.
Left to right, Colonel Andrew J. Copp Jr., Major George L. Armstrong, Colonel Ray I. Follmer, and Captain Eugene Beebe. Copp and Follmer stand behind Armstrong and Beebe, who are sitting at a table with a tablecloth. All four men are wearing suits. On the back wall are several framed documents and an award, one from the State of California and two from the American Legion.
Related to "Troops Plan Maneuvers: Army Day Set for April 4," Los Angeles Times, 10 Mar 1936, A5. Major George L. Armstrong, Army Day committee chairman, met with his assistants on March 9, 1936 at the Army and Navy Club.
These men are part of a committee for planning Army Day, an annual celebration, which in 1936 was held April 4. The committee was headed by Major George L. Armstrong.
