Probably related to the article, "Walkathon Converted Into Series of 'Derbies.' All Out on Bail After Police Act Under Old Law," 10 May 1934: A2.
The negative sleeve annotation relates this image to Jack Kearns, an American boxing manager. Kearns sponsored a controversial dance marathon (which he termed "walkathon" to get around ordinances) in Los Angeles in 1934. It was raided on May 9. - Caption
