Union organizer A. H. Peterson, secretary of the San Pedro branch of the International Longshoremen Association.
The 1934 West Coast Waterfront Strike lasted for 83 days, involved workers in ports from San Pedro to Seattle. It was at times violent and in the end it resulted in the unionization of all the West Coast ports in the United States.
