- Description
-
Portrait photograph of John Alferi, taken from the chest up. He wears a suit jacket and patterned tie. He also has two lapel pins on his right jacket collar. A round pin with a star, and a pin that reads "HOOVER."
Photograph appears with the article, "Bonus Marcher Praises Hoover," Los Angeles Times, 03 Nov 1932: A1.
John Alferi started the bonus march movement and led a hundred men from Independence Square in Philadelphia to Washington D.C. in December, 1931. Instead of condemning Hoover however, as many ex-service men did, Alferi saw Hoover as a friend.
