Department of Sewer Maintenance employee Peter Sanchez is remembered as a "good Samaritan" after attempting to help a resident on Newell street with his own excavation while working with city employees to repair a sewer at Newell and Blake streets. He jumped into 2800 Newell Street resident James Douglass' eleven-foot ditch, causing the walls of earth to collapse and bury him alive.
