After many years working as a miner and appearing in several Hollywood pictures over the years John Swanson has decided to return to his home in Alaska.
Photograph appears with the article, "And Did Yon Like Hollywood?" Los Angeles Times, 01 May 1930: A5.
John sits in a shallow stream of water resting his feet on two large rocks. He holds a large pan in front of him above the water. A lean-to can be seen in the background amongst several mounds of rocks.
