Description: Hersee Moody Carson next to a Vicente Palmaroli y González portrait painting of a woman standing on a terrace overlooking the sea, following the auction of art and decorative arts in her home, Castle Kalmia (at 1486 N. Sweetzer Ave. above Sunset Blvd.). Mrs. Carson was the widow of George Campbell Carson a prospector and inventor. The painting was awarded a medal at the Exposition Universal in Paris in 1867.
