Opera singers performing in a production of “L’Elisir d’amore.” At center, a singer portraying Dr. Dulcamara stands on an elaborately decorated wagon, while is assistant, wearing military style jacket, stands near him at ground level. They are surrounded by cast members dressed as peasants and soldiers. Among them is Natalie Garrotto in the role of Giannetta (wearing a full skirt with floral embellishments, ballet flats and a white shawl). Most in the crowd hold bottles of Dr. Dulcamara’s elixir. The setting is a village square in Basque country, late 18th century. Scenery includes a painted backdrop with rolling hills and trees, and set pieces painted to look like stone architecture. At foreground, one musician can be seen near the edge of the stage. Opera performed at Santa Monica High School Amphitheatre.
