Photomontage image, possibly intended for use as a Christmas card. The photograph features members of the Santa Monica Civic Opera dressed in Dickens-style costumes, singing from books of Christmas carols. This image has been superimposed onto a photograph of an unidentified, 2-story home with an outdoor Christmas tree. In addition, a brick wall has been added between the carolers and the property, creating a relatively seamless composite. Civic opera singers include: Barbara Ludwig (front row, second from left), June Moss (center), Teresa Kirbe and Enrico Porta (in top hat, holding a small dog).
The photograph of Santa Monica Civic Opera singers dressed as Dickens carolers was taken at the Bullock's department store in Westwood. The house that was used as a backdrop is unidentified. (See image ark nos. 21198/zz002d6dkb and 21198/zz002d6dnc.)
