Ana Bégué de Packman stands atop a pile of rubble next to what remains of the Casa de Don Dolores Sepúlveda. She, in overcoat and hat, rests against the structure, while a worker sits atop a wall of adobe bricks. A second man stands against the wall at right. Remnants of spackle remain attached to the wall, while wooden rafters and door frames remain intact.
The Casa de Don Dolores Sepúlveda was an adobe home an adobe home located near San Vicente Springs at South Bundy Drive and Nebraska Ave. José Dolores Sepúlveda, 1826-1905, was the son of Francisco Sepúlveda, holder of the original land grant for Rancho San Vicente y Santa Monica. The home was once part of Rancho San Vicente.
Ana Bégué de Packman served as Secretary of the Historical Society of Southern California, and was a charter member of the First Families of California. She was a descendant of Juan Francisco Reyes, alcalde (municipal magistrate) for the Pueblo de Los Angeles (1790 and 1793-95). She was also a descendant of Maximo Alaniz, who owned much of what is now Westwood.
