Description

May be the same person as Eugene Harry Drake, 1889-1973, resident of Santa Monica.
Correspondence received by Eugene d’Orange regarding possible Aramaic writings. The letter at the top of the stack was sent to d'Orange by Dr. Sir J. J. (Jivanji Jamshedji) Modi of the Oriental Institute, 172 Hornby Road, Fort, Bombay (India). The letter reads, in part: "I sent your script to the Curator of our Museum here for decipherment and he considers the same akin to the aramaic [sic] characters. I sent it subsequently to a Professor of Hebrew taking the script to be Aramaic and I am sorry my assistant did not..." Additional letters were received from the British College of Psychic Science, LTD, and Columbia University's Department of Indo-Iranian Languages. Of note, a "Report on Enquiry at British Museum Regarding Mr. Drake's Script" (dated November 12th 1930) is viewed at right, third page from top. No other viewable text mentions "Mr. Drake."
