Portions of Santa Monica High School were destroyed during the earthquake of 1933. Its reconstruction fell under the Works Project Administration (WPA). The project was completed in 1939.
Two young women walking up steps at Santa Monica High School campus. The girl on the left wears an overcoat and scarf and holds a clutch bag. The girl on the right wears a tailored jacket and skirt set with oxford shoes; she also cradles a clutch bag under one arm. Along the path, concrete retaining walls contain soil with new plantings.
