- Two color sketches representing the Yukon River’s varied landscapes at sunrise by Adelbert Bartlett. At top: Bartlett manipulates the natural landscape, placing white glaciers at foreground while incorporating blue, green and pink bands of color in the sky above. A pinkish-red ribbon floats in from above and out to the right of the image. Bottom: The sun rises above the Yukon River, its rays radiating to the image edge and illuminating the floodplain at foreground.
