Possibly related to a production of "Hansel and Gretel," January 23-24, 1959. The performance was conducted by Irving Beckman and performed at Barnum Hall. The notice appears in the Los Angeles Times, 18 Jan. 1959: E6
Santa Monica Civic Opera production of "Hansel and Gretel." Cast members in German-style clothing form a line across the stage. Singers portraying young males wear lederhosen; the young women wear dirndls. June Moss (as the mother wearing a dark shawl) sings at left, while performers in the role of Hansel (possibly Charlie Marie Gordon) and Gretel (portrayed by Barbara Ludwig) flank their father (standing at center, holding a hat). Behind them, a stage set depicts a gingerbread cottage in the woods with cutouts of gingerbread children and a witch. Performed at Barnum Hall, Santa Monica.
